Diversity of Gifts

1 Corinthians 12: 3-18 "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him."
One of the funniest things I have seen in my life is the scene from Seinfeld where Kramer is describing about driving the bus to save a pinky toe. Imagine Jesus took the cross to save us where each person has a gift or is part of His body of Christ.
The pinky toe reminds me of my significance in the body of Christ. Maybe my role is that of the pinky toe which is to lead people to Christ. I have to remember daily that what the Lord has me doing in the body may not be the same as what he has others doing or a single person is doing for the Lord. My role could be to spread his word to a few people who need it most.
When writing about the "Who are these guys", these two men had a significant piece in making the tabernacle of the Lord yet how many times in Church do you ever hear their names? Never, maybe in passing. These two men played an important role but received much less fanfare than Moses or Aaron.
I say this all the time, not everyone can be a Moses, David, Esther, Ruth, Paul, Peter, etc... It is ok to be a nobody in the world's eyes because you are important to the body of Christ. Each one of us, no matter our status in life, our physical features, our sexuality, our work, or where we live, the Lord will always be there to guide us in the works for the Lord. My work could be writing this blog and my three, soon to be fourth book. the Lord has blessed me from being an atheist to the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of His Word and His love for us as a child of the Lord most high.
