Freedom

Freedom

While walking Megatron (Lhasa Apso) this morning, I was wishing anyone outside who crossed our path a happy 4th of July. My first wish was felt with such a joy. Their eyes let up. This couple has lived in the US for 30+ years, originally from Indonesia. We spoke briefly but they thoroughly embraced and loved the freedoms America brings. They were celebrating with a BBQ at a friend’s house. FYI, those who have crossed the path of Megatron, he walks proudly without a leash.

A woman was out gardening, in her yard with a Marine flag and a US flag neatly placed. She had such a warmth in her answer, my sons are Marines. This is the freedom we stand for. I thanked her for their service. She was also from another country.

Marcia, my wife, is probably one the biggest patriotic people I know in the United States. My patriotism is strong but pales in comparisons to hers. Last August, she became a US citizen. She will take pictures of US flags while we are driving on Highway 10 close to where we live in Katy. Most car dealerships fly these huge flags, and I mean huge flags. Amazing sight to see. My wife’s favorite motto “I am a Christian, US citizen and a Texan”.

None of these three examples are surprising. In fact, a Beto O’Rourke supporter flies his flag every day and waves to me when I am out walking Megatron. There are some people who refuse to even acknowledge my waves of hi when they drive by or one today ignored even my Happy 4th greeting.

One of my great friends and cheerleader (see last blog) were discussing fireworks which Josh said it’s illegal in Vegas. I laughed saying you can legally have sex in a brothel but can’t shoot off fireworks. Everything is legal in Vegas, but the Politician’s think fireworks should be illegal. Like they say, can’t make it up.

Our founding fathers made a radical move leaving the Monarchy to a Republic based government founded upon the Judeo-Christian Creator in Jesus Christ & God. Before 1776, some of the early pilgrims tried socialism where they all shared in the duties of farming and building a community. Some of the people started to raise their concerns. Why? Because others were simply not pulling their own weight.

Some of our Democratic leaders are pushing the socialist agenda which would take away from our Republic for which we pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The United States of America is one of the greatest countries ever to embrace the earth. The freedoms we enjoy should be held tight by all regardless of the past stains which have caused great pains and struggles. It is this great country where our forefathers died fighting for these freedoms. We can’t overlook the pains others endured like Indians who held this land before the early settlers, the African slaves, the Acadians who faced insurmountable odds landing in Louisiana, and the Irish Slaves who were treated equally if not harsher than the slaves from Africa. Those are just a few.

America has stains that can never be washed away. These people who bore these hardships is what makes America the place it is that makes my wife feel strong about her “Patriotism” even though her birthplace was thousands of miles away. Enjoy these freedoms today. Raise your flag of Freedom. It is truly a blessing.
