Ornament of Grace

Ornament of Grace

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. Proverbs 4:6-13 KJV

Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee: love her, and she shall preserve thee. The beginning of wisdom, get wisdom, and  with all thy possession purchase prudence. Take hold on her, and she shall exalt thee: thou shalt be gloried by her, when thou shalt  embrace her. She shall give to thy head increase of graces, and protect thee with a noble crown. Hear, O my son, and receive my words,  that years of life may be multiplied to thee. I will shew thee the way of wisdom, I will  lead thee by the paths of equity. Which when thou shalt have entered, thy  steps shall not be straitened, and when thou  runnest, thou shalt not meet a stumblingblock. Take hold on instruction, leave it not: keep  it, because it is thy life. Proverbs 4:6-13 Douay Rheims

There are two types of wisdom: Godly and Worldly. The serpent used worldly wisdom in the Garden by asking Eve, “Did God say.” The serpent, aka evil, has been doing this since the beginning of God’s creation by taking God's wisdom of words in truth and using the opposite in deceit and lying.

Don’t confuse knowledge with wisdom. You can gain knowledge by reading a book, watching a video, observing life experiences, testing and trials, etc. That is not wisdom but earthly knowledge. Wisdom is the words of God used in our lives to walk in this world of corrupt chaos. The corrupt chaos created by the Serpent himself.

When the Lord says in verse 7 that “wisdom is the principal thing,” it means to read the Word of God and gather the Wisdom of God in knowledge on how to live a life the Lord has made for you on this earth until we reach Heaven.

The instructions of the Lord are found in the Holy Bible. Every step, each breath, and the tick of a second on the clock, the Lord’s hand of protection, will be upon you as you walk in the world. David and Solomon were right; one of the true gifts each of us has a right to is the wisdom of the Lord, which leads to the salvation of the soul. Without the Lord’s wisdom, we are powerless in the world. As it ends, use the wisdom of the Lord as instructions for your life because it is life.
