Righteous Compass

Genesis 7:1 AND the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. KJV
Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. KJV
The word righteous appears 586 times in the King James version which includes unrighteous as well. The Lord used righteous for the first time with Noah and at the end of Revelation in describing four types of people. Abraham asked God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah thinking there had to be at least 50, 40, 30, 20, maybe 10 righteous people living in the land. Job thought he was highly righteous as he suffered through great loss in life.
My daughter sent me a picture of some teenagers who placed plastic red cups in the symbol of a swastika. These are the cups we used to play beer pong, yes a drinking game, when I was lost in the world. It is hard to tell if these teens were playing this game but they also put their hands up in air with the Nazi salute. It was truly disgusting to see. My daughter says they lack morality. To me these teenagers dont lack morality, they lack righteousness and holiness.
Everyone has some sort of morality or moral code they live by to determine right from wrong. We may agree or not agree on others moral codes but each of has one. Jesus told us in Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." An irony to use red plastic cups as the example above when Jesus tells us we need to thirst and hunger for righteousness. Just now, I am extremely hungry and thirsty in my body but my Spirit said to finish this as I thirst and hunger after righteousness.
We will end with James 3:
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 8 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
How many of you are eating the fruit of righteousness? Peace is a powerful word especially in today's society of Chaos. One of my favorite Psalms 23 says "
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake."
We need eat the fruit of righteousness and follow the path in His name. In other words, everything we do on this earth has to be for the Lord which leads us to a righteous and holy life. I urge you to do a study of righteousness. It will be well worth it.
