Seasons

Seasons

LEVITICUS 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 TO every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

1 Peter 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

The word season appears 70 times and seasons 14 times.  Above are some powerful verses but none to me is great than what is found in Leviticus. But Leviticus is under the law, Jesus fulfilled the law thus we don't have to follow the Law.  100% true statement, I am one of those who believes Jesus fulfilled the law but there is still wisdom in the Law especially in Leviticus 26.  When we start with verse one, it talks about idols.  What are our idols today?  TV, Sports, Movies, Shopping, Eating, Exercising, politics, work, reading, music, or any activity that takes time away from God or leads you into sin.  Even Solomon's great wisdom found in Ecclesiastes, where everything was meaningless (empty), he writes there is a season or a time on earth from the time we are born until we die.  Do we live on Earth for God or do we live on earth for ourselves?

The second one most people do not do is rest on the Sabbath.  Nothing has changed except Jesus tells us on the Sabbath we are to work for the good of the Lord and respect the Sanctuary, the Church.  The Sabbath is there for our benefit, work six days, give our body and mind rest to honor the Lord as he honored the creation process.  Which is the correct day?  The Jewish people start Friday night before sundown until Saturday sundown.  The Lord never tells us which day, if you work Sunday through Friday, take Saturday.  If you work Wednesday through Monday, take Tuesday.  Take a day of rest and live for God.

The third thing is to walk in the Lord's statutes and yes the 10 commandments as well as others.  Love the Lord God and love your neighbor as yourself is the greatest of the commandments.  How many of us get angry when someone wrongs us?  Instead of love, we use hate and anger.   Remember Jesus could have hated the Religious Jews and Roman Leadership but chose love even to the point of taking the cross.  The writer of Hebrews tells us Moses did the same thing.  Remember, Moses was raised in a life of luxury and wealth in Pharoah's kingdom through his daughter.   Did you catch where it says, Christ?  Moses wanted to live for Christ and not the wealth of the Egyptians.

There is more to this teaching by Jesus, but he reminds us in Matthew  16: 26 "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"  How many of us born with a silver spoon in our mouth, would leave the riches to follow Christ.  Not many, not many at all.

Peter reminds us there will be seasons of temptations.  We are to rejoice in times of hardship, temptations, suffering, pain just like we are in times of joy and peace.  I highly recommend you do a study on Leviticus 26 where it shows the blessings of the Lord in their season but it also shows the Lord's hand upon those who disobey.
