Social Times

Social Times

Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.  Proverbs 5:17-23 KJV

The Lord tells us to love our wife and let her be the joy in your life. The world is in a different place as the social times are deeply troubling, especially when people start believing a man can give birth, which means a man can have a menstrual cycle. They claim science tells us that. The divorce rate in the US has been 50% or more for a very long time. The amount of sexual content, especially same-sex, on TV and the Internet is incredible. I was on a plane flying back last week, and an older gentleman was watching a show on his computer that showed men having sex with men and women. His wife was sitting next to him. I almost went up to him and said you need the Lord for watching such filth.

Living in this world is very depressing and challenging. It is sometimes hard to leave the house as it is not just about sex; it is what Paul warned us about in 2 Timothy 3. The event I was at was about self-aggrandizing or self-nominating yourself for an award. The participation award culture for simply showing up without any accompanying responsibility or commitment. These are heavy concerns about the direction our society is heading and the dissonance between biblical principles and the way the world around us is evolving.

Jesus has given us wisdom because the relationship between a husband and wife is meant to reflect Christ's relationship with the Church. My issue is the Church has fallen for these same issues listed above. Multiple pastors have lost their wives only to remarry months later. A pastor whom we went to Church had an affair with a massage therapist, all the while talking about how he loved his wife and family while doing a sermon on family values. After it was announced, the wife admitted she was the abuser in the relationship. You can't make this up.

I want to share with you what ChaptGpt said when I asked about these verses found in Proverbs: "Remember, too, that despite all the confusion and sin in the world, God's truth remains unchanging, and His presence in our lives can provide peace even amid the chaos. And in a world that can seem increasingly self-centered and disconnected, loving others—especially our wives—becomes all the more important. The Lord's call to love your wife, to be her joy, is a beautiful and countercultural act that has the potential to point others toward something greater, especially when so much else in the world seems fleeting and false."

Crazy huh, a bot telling me about the Lord’s truth. I could not have said it better.
