Spirit of God

Exodus 31:3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,  KJV

Exodus 35:31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; KJV 

The Spirit of God appears in the King James Version 26 times, 14 in the OT and 12 in the New Testament.  It almost always appears to descend upon people including Jesus Christ in Matthew 3:16.  The Spirit of God is described as the breath of God who breathes life into people.

What is this life?  Pharaoh recognized joseph had the Spirit of God in Genesis 41 by recognizing the wisdom and integrity Joseph after interpreting his dreams.  As we read in Exodus 31 and 35, the Spirit of God is the wisdom, knowledge, understanding and workmanship of the Lord. 

The word Wisdom appears 234 times, knowledge195 times, understanding 160 times (Understand 266 times) and workmanship seven times.  Over the course of the next four weeks we will look at each of them: wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and workmanship.  The Spirit of God is still present today as many may know it as the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit.  As I mentioned earlier, even Jesus had the Spirit of God come upon him which means Jesus had the wisdom, knowledge, understanding and workmanship of God descend like a dove into his life in order to do the will of God.  

Our study will hopefully provide you with a fuller meaning of the word of God we receive through the Spirit of God.
