the prosperity of fools

the prosperity of fools

the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. Proverbs 1:32 KJV

Proverbs 1 sets up the way to be a Christian or a follower of Christ. in a person's lifetime while on earth. This does not override the commandment of loving God and Loving your neighbor as you love yourself but highlights how we walk as Christians in wisdom on earth. Solomon walks us through what he has learned about following God while being in the world. It is hard to be a Christian while others around you follow the world's evil ways in prosperity. Depending on your society,  a person living in capitalism will have a different viewpoint than those in Communism or socialist societies, just like a society run by dictators or a president.

Solomon guides us at the beginning to fear the Lord. Those who do not fear the Lord are fools who run to evil. We see this in today's society, where evil is being magnified across the globe and is running rampant. The world is in a very dark place. Being a new year, what will 2024 bring in: joy and abundance or distress and tribulations? Since the world suffered a pandemic, I see more and more fools who despise wisdom and run towards evil as if evil can protect them. They are scared to die as fools lacking wisdom.  Our world is spiraling out of control into evil and destruction, much like Revelation warns us. I like how Solomon ends Proverbs 1 by saying, "But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."
