On Sunday, two days ago, I published my latest book “Feed My Sheep” which is a collection of short stories of authentic lives. Each story explores the meaning behind a person’s journey and the role faith, or the absence of it, played in shaping their path. These characters will help guide you in your own walk with God. There is a little more to the story about publishing my book, in that, I was fearful or hesitant to publish it. A few hours later after I published it, I went to the park to walk my dog. After getting out of the car, I looked over and saw a double rainbow, the picture above. Now, in the book I write about the rainbow in Chapter One as here is an excerpt
“The rainbow, a symbol of God’s humility, is not meant to represent human pride. After the flood, when God wiped away the earth’s corruption, He placed the rainbow in the sky as a covenant, a promise never again to bring such destruction upon the earth. It is a sign of God’s mercy and humility, a reminder of His loving commitment to creation.”
The rainbow also represents to trust Jesus every day with each breath, step and second that goes by. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6 how to live each day. He starts by telling us to give to the church and the streets followed by a daily prayer worshipping and praises God for giving us daily food and allowing us to be forgiven of our sins while also forgiving others.
The next is to fast, followed by the final action item which is to live for today. We are not promised tomorrow. Live for God today, live your life for today and not think about riches, food, clothing, etc. God knows we need these things but think about the day and doing the Lord’s plan for your life including your work and those who the Lord places in front of you. When you go out, witness to people about the grace of the Lord.
The life of George Muller is about an orphanage where they followed these steps every day. When they lacked food, they would pray and fast until food showed up at their door. They trusted God every day for food. You can read his story titled “The autobiography of George Muller”.
To recap we are to give, pray, fast, and live for today. When you are at work, work for the Lord daily in everything you do. If you are a business owner, give, fast, and pray for new customers daily. It does not mean you can’t plan for the future like a vacation or business venture. What it does mean is live your life daily in the Lord. Daily in the Lord in all things. It starts with giving, praying, fasting and trusting the Lord to provide all our needs every day.
The double rainbow was a reminder to me, that God is always there even when we have doubts, fears, stress, or any other emotion that takes away from trusting God in all things. Jesus is always there; it is up to us to live a daily life for Him.
